Exam Guide · 2026-10-19 · 5 min read

The Ladakh Subordinate Services Staff Selection Board (LSSSSB) recruits for Group B non-gazetted and Group C UT and divisional cadre posts. Its 2025 drive (LSSSSB/2025/01) was reported at 377 posts, including Junior Assistant. Details of the paper come from prep sites, so treat them as a guide.

Reported pattern of Paper I

  • Four sections of 25 questions each: General Intelligence, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude and English
  • 100 marks in total, with one mark for each correct answer
  • About 1 hour, with extra time for candidates eligible for a scribe
  • Negative marking of 0.25 mark for each wrong answer

Our mocks follow this pattern exactly: 25 questions per section, 60 minutes and 0.25 negative marking.

What each section covers

  • General Intelligence: series, coding, analogy, classification, non-verbal reasoning
  • General Awareness: current events, India and its neighbours, history, culture, geography, economy and polity, with Ladakh general knowledge
  • Quantitative Aptitude: percentage, ratio, average, profit and loss, time and work, simple interest
  • English: grammar, vocabulary, comprehension and error spotting

The paper on our mocks

Our full mocks for LSSSSB Non-Technical have 100 questions in 60 minutes with 0.25 negative marking, which is about 36 seconds per question. This pattern is an expected one, built from published guides, and the official notice will replace it.

  • General Intelligence: 25 questions (25% of the paper)
  • General Awareness (Ladakh, J&K and India): 25 questions (25% of the paper)
  • Quantitative Aptitude: 25 questions (25% of the paper)
  • English: 25 questions (25% of the paper)

What the practice bank holds for this exam

Every topic has an answer and an explanation for each question.

  • General sections (Reasoning, General Awareness & Science, Mathematics, English): 3,709 questions shared with other JKSSB exams, split into topics with Easy, Medium and Hard sets

Worked questions

Try each question before you read the answer. They show the level of the practice sets.

Q1 (Reasoning). Find the odd one out. Options: A) Ball; B) Circle; C) Triangle; D) Square Answer: A) Ball. A ball is a 3D object; the rest are 2D shapes.

Q2 (General Awareness & Science). The unit of electric current is? Options: A) Ohm; B) Ampere; C) Volt; D) Watt Answer: B) Ampere. Electric current is measured in amperes.

Q3 (Mathematics). The average marks of 25 students is 62. If the average of the first 15 is 60, find the average of the remaining 10. Options: A) 63; B) 66; C) 64; D) 65 Answer: D) 65. Total marks = 25×62 = 1550. First 15 total = 15×60 = 900. Remaining 10 total = 650, average = 65.

Q4 (English). Choose the word closest in meaning to 'Gregarious': Options: A) Shy; B) Sociable; C) Greedy; D) Serious Answer: B) Sociable. A gregarious person enjoys company; sociable.

Q5 (Reasoning). If RIVER is coded as SJWFS (each letter shifted forward by 1), how is OCEAN coded? Options: A) PDFBO; B) PDFCO; C) PDEBO; D) PDFBP Answer: A) PDFBO. Shifting each letter of OCEAN forward by 1 gives P,D,F,B,O = PDFBO.

Preparing section by section

General Intelligence (25 questions): Draw diagrams for relations and directions, and write series differences on paper. Do not try to solve everything in your head.

General Awareness (Ladakh, J&K and India) (25 questions): Treat J&K history, geography, rivers, culture and the 2019 Reorganisation Act as a single block, and learn each fact together with a place or a date.

Quantitative Aptitude (25 questions): Do short timed sets of arithmetic every day. Check each answer by estimation, because a wrong sign or a missed zero is a common loss.

English (25 questions): Start with the rules, then move to vocabulary and comprehension. Correct each error against the rule behind it, because the same few rules return in many questions.

Using the mocks and topic tests

Start with the diagnostic test to find your weakest subjects, then work through the topic sets for those subjects. Take a sectional mock each week for the section you find hardest. In the last two weeks, sit full papers of 100 questions in 60 minutes, and spend as long on review as on the paper. With 0.25 negative marking, guess only when you can remove at least one option.

Common mistakes

  • Studying only the subjects you like and leaving the weakest for the end
  • Taking mocks without reviewing the wrong answers
  • Ignoring the time limit during practice, and then running short in the real paper
  • Relying on one source and not checking the board's own notice for changes

Practise

Start with the diagnostic, then try the full-length mocks and sectional mocks.
