JKSSB Preparation Priority: Which Subjects to Study First for Each Post

Exam strategy · 2026-10-13 · 7 min read

With limited time, the smartest move is to study in the order of marks available. The patterns below come from the section-wise marks in the JKSSB papers we've covered. Confirm them in your own notification, because patterns can change.

The one rule across posts: J&K General Knowledge carries 20–40 marks in every clerical and accounts paper, so it comes first.

Junior Assistant (80 marks)

Four equal sections of 20: General English, General Awareness (J&K), Numerical & Reasoning Ability, and Basic Concepts of Computers; then a typing test. Priority: J&K GK → Computers → English → Numerical & Reasoning. Computers is the most predictable 20 marks.

Class-IV / MTS (100 marks)

General Awareness & Science 40, and Basic Mathematics, Basic Reasoning and Basic English 20 each. Priority: General Awareness & Science (40) → Mathematics → Reasoning → English.

Finance Accounts Assistant (120 marks)

General Knowledge 30, Accountancy & Book-Keeping 30, then English, Statistics, Mathematics, General Economics, General Science and Computers at 10 each. Priority: Accountancy (30) → J&K GK (30) → Economics and Mathematics → the rest. Do not skip PFMS and Government Accounting.

Panchayat Account Assistant (120 marks)

General Knowledge 30, Computer Applications 30, Accountancy & Book-Keeping 30, then Mathematics/Statistics, General Economics and Science at 10 each. Priority: the three 30-mark sections first. Add Panchayati Raj in J&K to your GK list.

Sub-Inspector, Executive (200 marks)

General Intelligence & Reasoning 40, General Awareness 40, and Quantitative Aptitude, English, Mathematical Abilities and Computer Proficiency 30 each. Priority: Reasoning and General Awareness (80 marks together) → the four 30-mark sections. The paper uses −0.5, so accuracy matters.

A simple weekly plan

  • Days 1–2: the highest-weight section for your post
  • Days 3–4: the second-highest section
  • Day 5: J&K GK revision with topic tests
  • Day 6: a timed mixed test
  • Day 7: re-attempt only the wrong answers

Pattern details for all posts are in JKSSB exam patterns compared. Practice tests are in Practice by Topic; browsing is open to everyone and a free account lets you start tests and save results.
